25% of reported burglaries due to unsecured homes

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police Department’s Community Intelligence Unit will conduct a burglary prevention operation Thursday morning in District 5.

Community Intelligence Officers will be looking for open garage doors, unsecured property and other red flags that create opportunity for would-be burglars. Officers will offer residents burglary prevention tips, easy ways to report suspicious activity, and other timely public safety information.

Reporters interested in following the operation are invited to a briefing at 8 a.m. Thursday in the Media Briefing Room of the Public Safety Building, 475 S. 300 E., Salt Lake City.
