SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Evidence Unit has items which have been taken into custody that will be donated, destroyed or otherwise eliminated effective November 24, 2014.  These items include the following:

Backpacks, luggage, bags, purses, wallets, bags, clothing, bedding, sleeping bags, credentials (social security cards, ID cards, driver licenses, credit and debit cards, passport, etc.), guns, knives, money, jewelry, cell phones with accessories, eye/sunglasses, computers with accessories, keys, hand and power tools, bikes, bike parts, miscellaneous papers (birth certificates, photos, letters, etc.) license plates, e-cigarette, cameras with accessories, cosmetics, perfume, car and home stereos, iPods, iPads, GPS systems, MP3, tablets, light, longboard, helmet, airgun, pellet gun, safe, camping chair, cart, planner, silver bowl, air card, jump drive, PSP, snowboard, wheelchair, dog leash, oxygen tank, chargers.

Reasonable attempts have been made to contact property owners, where applicable, by U.S. Mail.

The Evidence Unit holds lost-and-found and abandoned items no more than 120 days, while property set for disposal from adjudicated cases is no more than 10 years old. If you have reason to believe that property mentioned above may be yours and you have documentation, identification or case numbers to assist in claiming it, please contact the Evidence Unit at (801) 799-3041.
