Posted: July 24, 2013 — The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Investigators have made an arrest in the murder of 19-year-old Sione Fakatoufifita earlier this year.

At approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, and without incident, detectives arrested Vilisoni Angilau (01/14/1993) at his place of employment in West Jordan. They booked him into the Salt Lake County Jail on one count of murder, a first-degree felony, and one count of obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.

According to the probable cause statement, the suspect and victim were members of rival gangs. Pursued by Angilau and other gang members through Glendale on April 13, 2013, Fakatoufifita arrived at the Maverik Convenience Store, 1680 S. Redwood Rd., Salt Lake City, where Angilau found him and shot him numerous times.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Public Information Officer/Detective Cody Lougy will be in the lobby of the old Public Safety Building, 315 E. 200 S., Salt Lake City, from 2–2:30 p.m. to talk with reporters about the arrest.
