SALT LAKE CITY—The Salt Lake City Police Department seeks the public’s help to identify and locate the suspect in a shooting that occurred near the downtown homeless shelter Tuesday evening.

At 6:54 p.m. yesterday evening, witnesses reported that a white Nissan Altima entered the west parking lot of Artspace Apartments and parked.  Two black men in hooded jackets exited and walked toward the west side of the shelter on 500 West.  One of the men fired a handgun at least twice into a crowd of people near the men’s shelter entrance at 225 S. 500 W.

The sole victim, a 44-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

SLCPD is requesting that anyone in the area at the time or who knows anything about this incident contact police to help find the two suspects in this case.
