In Memoriam: Detective Green B. Hamby, 1921
April 26, 2013 — The Salt Lake City Police Department Monday afternoon will dedicate a plaque in memory of an officer killed in the line of duty 92 years ago.
The bronze marker honors the sacrifice of Detective Green B. Hamby, who was shot and killed by a burglary suspect February 8, 1921.
Sponsored by the John W. Gallivan Utah Center, it is the sixth memorial plaque installed by the Salt Lake City Police History Project to date. The Police Department extends its appreciation to Talitha Day, Gallivan Center Director, who helped the police department obtain permission to install the plaque.
