SLCPD Volunteer Corps, Motor Squad Partner for DUI Saturation Saturday Night

Goal: taking DUI drivers off the streets
 

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Volunteer Corps will be working in cooperation with SLCPD’s Motor Squad to deter and arrest impaired drivers Saturday night.
 

Approximately 30 Volunteer Corps members will be engaged in normal “eyes-and-ears” patrol, with special attention to spotting impaired. Volunteers have received advanced training on DUI behavior, which they will report via radio to a command post for response by a motor officer.
 

Slated to run from 10 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday, the DUI saturation will include 10 motor officers.  The command post will be in the parking lot of the old Public Safety Building, 315 E. 200 S.
