Employees of a nearby business reported a briefcase left on the sidewalk in front of their building. Bomb Techs responded and rendered the briefcase safe. Nothing suspicious was found.

GRAVEYARD SHIFT

2222     Traffic Accident with Injuries       350 N. East Capitol                         12-124357

An SUV was being driven westbound on East Capitol when the driver lost control and the vehicle began to roll down the roadway. The SUV was occupied by seven teenagers.  Four of them were transported to area hospitals in serious condition. The other three were not injured.

2315    Wanted Person/ Fleeing/K9     1945 W. 3395 S. (West Valley City)     12-124427

Tevita Maile Niu (5/15/80), wanted for an aggravated robbery, was taken into custody in West Valley City.  As Salt Lake City Police detectives made contact with the Niu he fled in a vehicle, hitting a curb, and causing a tire to blow out.  The suspect fled on foot, but officers, including K9 units, captured him shortly thereafter.
