Assault on Peace Officer
135 S. 500 W.
Officers responded to 135 S. 500 W. on report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival officers found that the apartment security guard and another tenant had been involved in an altercation with Charles Welch (3/30/45). There was some confusion as to whether Welch was allowed in the building as it had recently been reported that he had possibly been threatening other tenants. While the security guard was attempting to find out if Welch could enter the building he was assaulted by Welch. Another tenant tried to intervene and was also assaulted by Welch. When officers arrived and attempted to gather information from Welch he became upset and threw his shoe at an officer, striking him in the torso. Welch was taken into custody and booked into jail for Assault on a Peace Officer.
