Officers were called to assist a Salt Lake County Animal Control Officer who was trying to contain two large, aggressive dogs that were loose and threatening people inside of a business. The dogs turned their aggression toward the officers as they attempted to contain them. The officers used pepper spray and a Taser on the dogs to no effect. One of the officers fired a single round from his gun when one of the dogs attempted to attack him. The round missed the dog and struck the ground. The dogs were eventually secured. The owner was located and issued a citation by the Salt Lake County Animal Control Officer.

William Patton (7/16/78) held a shotgun as he confronted an 18-year-old woman and her boyfriend about his vehicle. Patton had previously loaned the woman his car and she had not returned it. Patton, who was apprehended without incident by responding officers, possessed a shotgun and illegal narcotics. Patton was booked into jail on several charges, including possession of firearm by a restricted person, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A fight broke out during a party at the above address. Partygoers began to flee the area on foot and in cars. A male who was running from the home fired several shots toward it. The shots struck a 28-year-old male in the shoulder and a 33-year-old male in the waist. Both males were transported to local hospitals in critical but stable condition. Since several of the involved parties have gang ties, this case is being investigated by the Safe Streets Task Force.
