An off-duty officer observed someone with a backpack walking through the neighborhood and looking into the yards of residences. The officer called in the suspicious circumstance and continued to observe. The suspect entered the yard of an abandoned home, then came out and confronted the officer, pulling a knife and threatening him. As the officer retreated the suspect ran away, at some point passing the knife and backpack to a female accomplice. Responding officers stopped him and the female nearby. When confronted by the officer, the female tried to throw the knife away. The backpack contained burglary tools. Clint Winward, (12/12/85) and Patrice Winward (11/11/89) were both booked on several charges.
