SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department will team up with the Smith’s Food & Drug Store in Sugar House Thursday evening for the last “Chill with a Cop” outreach event of the summer.

From 5–7 p.m. Thursday, August 22, Smith’s at 922 E. 2100 S. will offer a free ice cream cone to anyone who speaks with an officer. Community Intelligence Officers will be on hand to discuss crime trends and help people with public safety issues they may be experiencing.

It’s also an opportunity to meet a police officer and talk about the way policing is conducted in the capital city — a conversation which always goes better with free ice cream.

Supported by Salt Lake City, the Downtown Alliance and Smith’s Food & Drug Stores, “Chill with a Cop” is a community outreach effort held by officers of the Community Intelligence Unit the fourth Thursday of the month. “Coffee with a Cop” will return in September.
