After observing two pedestrians nearly struck by a car as they crossed the street against the light, officers stopped them for jaywalking. During the stop, they discovered Thomas Pennington (1/25/66) had warrants and was in possession of cocaine. They booked him for warrants, possession of cocaine, and failure to register as a sex offender.

Burglary, Felony Criminal Mischief, Stolen Vehicle, DUI
1530 S. 500 W.

A man broke into an auto repair shop at this address and stole a vehicle. He rammed two large doors and then drove through a fence, causing thousands of dollars in damage. A witness observed the vehicle crash through the fence and called police. Officers located and stopped the vehicle at 1430 S. 900 W. They booked Jonah Antosch (6/27/93) into jail for burglary, auto theft, felony criminal mischief, and DUI.

Robbery
1270 S. Main St.

A man entered the convenience store at this location and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk refused, at which point the suspect went behind the counter and tried to grab cigarettes. The clerk used an ax handle to defend himself. However, the suspect took control of the ax handle and chased the clerk out of the store. At this point, the suspect fled the scene. A short time later, SLC911 received a medical call of a man with a head wound. The man’s description matched that of the would-be robber. Officers responded and took Siaosi Tuifua (11/21/90) into custody. They booked him for robbery and aggravated assault—after he received medical attention at a local hospital.
