Bank robbery

A man entered the bank, filled out a deposit slip demanding money, and gave it to the teller. Before the teller could comply the suspect fled out the east doors of the bank and then ran east on California Avenue. He is described as Hispanic, approximately 25-years-old, 5’10” tall, thin build, wearing a black beanie and black hooded sweatshirt. No weapon was seen.

A maintenance worker at a carwash was repairing equipment when he was approached by two men. One of them pointed a handgun at him and told him to open the charge machines. When the worker told them he did not have access one of the suspects tried using bolt cutters on one of the machines without success. Then they both fled in a maroon, Honda SUV with a Utah license plate. Suspect #1 is described as a white adult, approximately 35-years-old, 5’10” tall, 175 lbs., wearing a light blue denim shirt, blue pants and a nylon stocking over his face. Suspect #2 is also described as a white adult, 5’8″ tall, 200-220 lbs., black beard, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans. They were last seen driving north on 1460 West from North Temple.

A 28-year-old female was leaving a nightclub when she was approached by a man who brandished a handgun and demanded her wallet and phone. The victim handed over the items and the suspect left. Officers responded and after interviewing the victim drove to the shelter area and located someone who matched the description. The man had a realistic toy gun, was positively identified, and led officers to the wallet and phone. The items were returned to the victim and James Balladarez, 55, was booked for the robbery.
