SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is hosting a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Academy for police officers and police trainees. This academy provides training for officers to enable them to learn about and identify signs of community members who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Salt Lake City Police Department is committed to providing the best possible resources for those who are in crisis. Currently, Salt Lake City Police Department trains all new recruits in CIT and has over 300 officers serving who have had the training.

The CIT academy will be concluding tomorrow. The final class periods will include scenario based training that will allow officers and trainees to utilize skills they have developed throughout the week.
