Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Call times listed are approximate and typically reflect the first call received by SLC911 (Dispatch) for a given case. Aggravated Assault

A black male adult in his 20’s wearing a white polo type shirt and shorts, entered the property. When the victim told the suspect that the area was for employees only, the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim. The suspect left in an unknown direction.
9:13 p.m.
Protest Disturbance
550 S. 200 E.

Officers arrived to find members of Utah Armed Citizens and Black Life Matters protesters engaged in an altercation. Members of the UAC stated they were attempting to get in their vehicles when they were approached by a group of 20-25 BLM protesters. Members of the BLM group were armed with bats and sticks. A shouting match ensued. Officers arrived quickly to de-escalate the situation. Officers separated the groups and instructed those members of the UAC who were assaulted to meet at the PSB to file a report. Officer asked members of the BLM protesters to make report on scene, no victims came forward. Several members of UCA responded to make report stating they were pushed by protesters.

Suspicious Package

As protestors were leaving the area, Sheriff’s deputies working at the courthouse noticed a male place a package down in front of the turn-style doors and then run away. HDU responded and x-rayed the package and found that it was just paperwork inside.
10:22 p.m.
Auto-Ped Hit and Run
900 S. West Temple

Officers were dispatched on report of an auto-ped accident. The victim was riding an electric scooter in the crosswalk, against a red light, when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The vehicle fled southbound onto the freeway. Suspect vehicle was described as a white sports car that should have front end damage. The victim was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.

Aggravated Assault

The Victim was standing on the sidewalk when a white male adult was dressed in all black started a fight. During the fight the suspect threw a boulder at the victim. Another unknown male attempted to stop the fight but was allegedly knocked out. When police arrived, only the victim was on scene who was never hit by a punch or the boulder that was thrown at him.

Fatal Traffic Accident

Victim driving a Honda Civic was stopped at the red light northbound on State. When the light changed the victim entered the intersection and was struck by a Nissan going eastbound at a high speed. Victim pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Nissan was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. Impairment and speed could have been a contributing factor. This is an ongoing investigation.
