Carjacking

A male brandished a knife and approached a female who was sitting in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. The suspect pulled the victim out of the vehicle and demanded the keys. The victim gave the suspect her keys, he then fled in the victim’s vehicle. The suspect was described as a male Hispanic or Polynesian wearing a red and black plaid shirt, dark pants and a dark beanie.

 

4:00 p.m.

Robbery

300 W. Roosevelt Ave.

A victim was walking on the sidewalk when he was struck in the back of the head with a metal object by an unknown male. The suspect stole a bag of groceries the victim was carrying and fled. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. There is no suspect description.

 

7:26 p.m.

Vehicle Burglary

720 S. 900 W.

A witness saw two males break into a vehicle and steal a purse. The two suspects realized they were being watched, dropped the purse, and fled in a vehicle. The witness followed them in his own vehicle and called 911. The suspect drove to West Valley City, where he crashed into another vehicle at a gas station. The driver fled on foot from the crash and was not located. With the assistance of West Valley Police, Abel Grajeda-Santiago, 24, was taken into custody and booked into jail for vehicle burglary, possession of a controlled substance and warrants.
