A male entered the 7-11 and attempted to take items without paying. Store employees confronted the suspect and a physical altercation ensued. The male left the store but returned a short time later and began throwing rocks at the glass door, breaking it. The store employees followed the suspect and another physical altercation took place. Officers arrived on scene and took the male into custody. Steve Figueroa, 45, was taken to jail for theft, criminal mischief, and assault charges.

Taser Deployment- Foot Pursuit

Bike officers were in the area looking for a suspect that was wanted for several warrants and charges. Officers spotted the suspect exiting his apartment and walking on 800 E. Officers attempted to stop the suspect and take him into custody. The suspect ran out onto 700 E. where he attempted to carjack two separate vehicles. Officers were able to catch up with the suspect and tackled him to the ground. The suspect resisted officers and a drive stun with a Taser was used to gain compliance. Ethan Wayman, 25, was taken to jail for aggravated assault on a police officer, felony fleeing, theft by receiving stolen property, failure to stop at the command of a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple outstanding felony warrants.

Vandalism, Assault on an Officer

A male threw a hammer through the window of a business and it was reported that he may have damaged other businesses before he fled on a bike. An officer spotted the suspect and attempted to stop him. The suspect pulled an item from his pocket thought to be a Taser. The officer fought with the suspect and was able to get him cuffed. Jose Mesino, 32, was taken to jail for vandalism, failure to comply, assault on a police officer, and drug paraphernalia.

Aggravated Assault

The victim was sleeping on the sidewalk when the suspect came up and for unknown reasons began stomping on the victim’s face. Officers found the victim and summoned medical help. The victim was transported in serious condition to a local hospital. Officers located the suspect Benjamin Begay, 56, and took him to jail on aggravated assault charges.
