Burglary Arrest

Officers responded on a burglary in progress and located a male attempting to access a house by a back door. As they took the male into custody the officers recognized property taken in a recent burglary in the same area. Carlos Gomez, 43, was booked into jail for possession of another person’s identity documents, unlawful acquisition of a financial card, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools as well as outstanding warrants.

Robbery
1609 S. 1100 E.

A male entered the 7-11 and took food and beer and failed to pay. He left the store and was followed by an employee. When the employee caught the male, the male raised one of the beer cans over his head and motioned as if he was going to strike the employee. Officers located Jari Bartschi, 49, in the area and confirmed he was the suspect. Bartschi was booked into jail for robbery and warrants.

Shots Fired
205 E. Hampton Ave.

Officers responded on a report of shots fired, possibly between two vehicles. The vehicles fled the scene prior to police arrival. There were no injuries or damage reported. The investigation is ongoing.
2:45 p.m.
Enticing A Minor
200 E. Kensington Ave.

Detectives were contacted through social media by a male who believed he was talking to a child. The male drove from California to Utah with the intent to engage in sexual activity with a child. Detectives located the male in the above area and took him into custody. Daniel Kaufman, 35, was booked into jail for enticing a minor, attempted exploitation of a minor and dealing in harmful materials.

Stabbing
210 S. Rio Grande St.

The victim was asleep on the sidewalk when the suspect began screaming and yelling to clean everything up. An altercation occurred between the victim and the suspect, during which the suspect stabbed the victim. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital, a second victim approached police with minor injuries as well. The suspect, Gatluak Gatluak, 44, was booked into jail for aggravated assault.

Hit & Run/Aggravated Assault

A witness saw a vehicle hit two parked cars then flee. He followed the suspect vehicle until it became disabled in the middle of the road. When the witness arrived the vehicle was unoccupied, however a male approached and began to remove items from the suspect vehicle. The witness confronted the male who in turn produced a gun and threatened the witness. The witness was able to disarm the suspect and detain him. Jose Flores, 29, was booked into jail for aggravated assault, public intoxication and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
