SLCPD Locates Car Involved in Hit & Run Crash, Arrests 26-Year-Old Man

SALT LAKE CITY — Today, the Salt Lake City Police Department is announcing the arrest of a 26-year-old man who is accused of running a red light and hitting a 20-year-old woman while crossing in a crosswalk.

The man is identified as Anh Pham.

This investigation started at 4:49 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, when SLC911 received information about an auto-pedestrian crash at 600 West North Temple Street.

Paramedics took the woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman is currently in critical but stable condition.

No other information about the woman is being released.

Since Monday, officers and detectives developed information identifying the car involved in the crash.

At 6:01 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, officers spotted the car at Liberty Park with Pham inside.

Detectives and officers safely took Pham into custody and booked him into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on charges of aggravated assault and failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving serious injury.

Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.
