SLCPD Investigating Homicide in Glendale Neighborhood, Seeking Tips from Community

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting in the Glendale neighborhood.

This investigation started at 4:03 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2024, when SLC911 received several calls about a shooting near 1800 West Fortune Road.

Officers arrived and found a 30-year-old man had been shot, the man died at the scene.

The SLCPD Homicide Squad will work with the medical examiner’s office to confirm the man’s name, cause of death and to notify next-of-kin.

No arrests have been made, but based on the preliminary information there does not appear to be an imminent danger to the community.

Detectives believe many witnesses left the scene before officers arrived. Anyone with information should call 801-799-3000.

This is the fifth homicide in Salt Lake City for 2024.

The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad is the only full-time dedicated homicide squad in the State of Utah. The SLCPD’s Homicide Squad is responsible for handling homicides, as well as the city’s attended deaths, unattended deaths, suspicious deaths, and deaths by suicide. Additionally, the squad is tasked with investigating missing persons cases and officer-involved shootings/critical incidents (OICI) from other agencies in Salt Lake County.
