SLCPD Investigating Deadly Crash in Glendale Neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY — Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (CAR) Team are investigating a deadly crash in the Glendale neighborhood.

This investigation started at 4:26 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, when SLC911 received reports of a crash near 1200 West 2100 South.

Officers arrived and found a Dodge Ram on its side; the driver was trapped in the vehicle.

The Salt Lake City Fire Department rescued the 50-year-old man from the Dodge, but he died on scene.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives and officers believe the Dodge was driving east on 2100 South when the driver lost control and drove through a fence then hit two parked pickup trucks causing the Dodge to roll.

The identity of the man is not being released as detectives are working to notify his next of kin.

This crash marks the fifth traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City for 2024.

The Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (CAR) Team and SLCPD Crime Lab technicians responded to the scene.

The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit, which investigates deadly or critical injury crashes, is part of a multi-jurisdictional task force examining the most serious crashes throughout the Salt Lake Valley. SLCPD CAR detectives are also part of the multi-jurisdictional CAR Team, which includes law enforcement from the Salt Lake City Police Department and several other Salt Lake Valley agencies, ensuring thorough investigations of crashes involving serious physical injuries or death.

No further information on this case is being released. Neither the PIO nor the On-Duty Watch Commander are available for interviews.
