SLCPD Investigating Homicide in Glendale Neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY — Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad are investigating a deadly shooting in the Glendale neighborhood.

This investigation started at 11:54 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, when SLC911 received a call about an unresponsive man on the ground inside of an apartment located at 1600 West Snow Queen Place.

Officers responded and found a 41-year-old man with a life-threatening gunshot wound.

No arrests have been made. There is no suspect information for public release at this time.

Paramedics and officers performed lifesaving aid, but the man died on scene.

The SLCPD Homicide Squad will work with the medical examiner’s office to confirm the man’s name, cause of death, and to notify next-of-kin.

The specific circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation. However, this appears to be an isolated incident. There does not appear to be an imminent danger to the community.

Anyone with information on this case, including having photos or video, is asked to call 801-799-3000 or submit an anonymous tip using the City Protect App and reference case number 24-178422.

This is the seventh homicide in Salt Lake City for 2024.

The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad is the only full-time dedicated homicide squad in the State of Utah. The SLCPD’s Homicide Squad is responsible for handling homicides, as well as the city’s attended deaths, unattended deaths, suspicious deaths, and deaths by suicide. Additionally, the squad is tasked with investigating missing persons cases and officer-involved shootings/critical incidents (OICI) from other agencies in Salt Lake County.

No further information on this case is being released.
