SLCPD Investigating Shooting, 1 Person Injured

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) is investigating a shooting that injured one person.

This investigation started at 9:08 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, when SLC911 received information about people hearing gunshots near 750 West Jackson Avenue.

As officers headed to the scene, SLC911 got additional information about someone being shot.

Officers arrived, stabilized the scene, and detained several people as part of the investigation.

Paramedics took the person injured to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The initial information officers received suggested the suspect left the house and started walking toward 800 West North Temple.

Officers are still working to determine everyone’s involvement and are working to determine whether there is anyone outstanding.

Based on the preliminary investigation, officers have learned there was some sort of argument inside a house between a group of people, which resulted in a shooting.

At this time, there is no information to suggest a threat to our community.

Officers have closed Jackson Avenue from 700 West to 800 West. Media staging is at 700 West Jackson Avenue.
