SLCPD Provides Update on Sugar House Deadly ShootingSALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is providing an update on a deadly shooting that occurred in the Sugar House neighborhood. This investigation started at 11:41 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, when SLC911 received information about a shooting that just occurred near 1045 East 2100 South. Based on the preliminary investigation, several people became involved in an argument. During the argument, a 26-year-old man is accused of pulling out a gun and shooting a 38-year-old man. Paramedics took the 38-year-old man to the hospital in critical but stable condition. The argument continued and a 30-year-old man is accused of taking the firearm from the 26-year-old man and shooting him. The 26-year-old man died on scene. Officers have detained the 30-year-old man and several other involved parties. SLCPD homicide detectives have responded to the scene and are continuing their investigation. There is no threat to the community. Detectives believe this shooting is an isolated incident that resulted from the initial argument. The motive to the initial argument remains under investigation.
