SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department seeks information from the public in the case of a woman missing since 2002.

Based on new information, investigators have reopened the case and need friends and acquaintances of Williams to come forward and talk with them. A cash award is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

Aletha Jo Williams, 25 at the time of her disappearance, was reported missing by her family in May 2002. It had been two months since their last contact with her, which wasn’t unusual behavior for Williams.

She was last seen March 6, 2002, at approximately 1700 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City. She dropped her belongings off at a family member’s house and said she would return. No sign of Williams has turned up anywhere else.

Williams is:

  • female black adult
  • nickname: Ali or Ally
  • 25
  • 5 feet 2-4 inches tall
  • 140 lbs.
  • 6 mos. pregnant
  • pierced ears and tongue
  • “Shawn” tattooed on wrist

The Police Department asks anyone with information about Williams to call (801) 799-3000. Anonymous tips may be sent by texting the keyword TIPSLCPD plus any relevant information to CRIMES 274637. Reference: case #02-79626.
