SLCPD Investigating Shooting, Man Critically Injured 

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a shooting that critically injured a man at the Wasatch Inn.

This investigation started at 10:05 a.m. on Tuesday October 10, 2022, when SLC911 received a 9-1-1 call about a shooting that had just occurred at 1416 South State Street.

Officers immediately responded and found a man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. Officers immediately started performing emergency first aid.

Gold Cross Ambulance and the Salt Lake City Fire Department assisted SLCPD with life-saving efforts.

Gold Cross Ambulance transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition.

This shooting does not appear to be random.

Based on the preliminary information, the victim and the shooter got into a fight when the suspect shot the man and immediately left south on State Street.

The suspect is described as an approximately 60-year-old Hispanic man, balding with no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a green puffy jacket, red and black sweatpants, and white shoes.

The suspect has not been located at this time.

Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad are investigating this case due to the nature of the victim’s injuries. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 801-799-3000 and reference case number 22-201391.
