SLCPD Investigating Shooting, 29-Year-Old Woman Killed

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating the death of a 29-year-old woman as a homicide.

This investigation started at 2 a.m. on Sunday November 20, 2022, when SLC911 received a call about an incident at 300 South West Temple.

The 9-1-1 caller later reported someone was shot. SLC911 call takers worked quickly to gather as much information to relay to SLCPD officers.

As officers responded, they learned someone put the victim in a car and started driving away.

SLC911 call takers told the driver to stop so officers could find the victim and assess the situation but the person behind the wheel kept driving. Eventually, the driver stopped at a hospital on the University of Utah campus where medical teams rendered first aid. The victim died at the hospital.

Officers learned the shooting happened in a parking lot near a nightclub.

Based on the preliminary information, employees from the nightclub asked several people to leave. While outside, the suspect got into an argument with the victim’s boyfriend. The argument escalated and resulted in the suspect pulling out a gun and shooting the victim.

After shooting the victim, the suspect, and others, left in an unknown vehicle.

Detectives with the SLCPD’s Homicide Squad and Crime Lab responded.

Detectives are asking that anyone with information about this shooting to call 801-799-3000 and reference case number 22-229528.

A SLCPD PIO will be available for interviews later this morning.

The SLCPD Homicide Squad will work with the medical examiner’s office to confirm the woman’s name, age, cause of death and to notify next-of-kin.

This is the 14th homicide in Salt Lake City for 2022.
