Update: Shooting Victim Dies, Police Seek Tips from Community

SALT LAKE CITY — A 35-year-old man died after being shot on Wednesday, the Salt Lake City Police Department confirmed.

This investigation started at 6:43 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, when SLC911 received a call about a shooting at 1665 South Riverside Drive.

Officers responded and found 35-year-old Guthrie Serawop with a critical gunshot wound.

The Salt Lake City Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance took Serawop to the hospital where he later died.

Officers searched the immediate and nearby neighborhoods looking for the shooter but did not find anyone.

Detectives believe this is an isolated incident. There does not appear to be any imminent danger to the community.

This is the first homicide in Salt Lake City for 2023.
