SLCPD Announces Travel Impacts Ahead of Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is reminding community members about the upcoming road closures during the 2023 Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon and 5K Race.

On Friday evening, August 18, 2023, anyone living, working, or visiting Salt Lake City should expect travel impacts as participants and spectators navigate the 5K race.

Beginning early Saturday, August 19, 2023, people should expect significant and potentially lengthy road closures as participants and spectators navigate the half marathon.

Officers will be stationed throughout the courses to help ensure the safety for all of those involved.

The Salt Lake City Police Department continues to work with the event organizers to lessen any impact on our community. To ensure the safety of race participants and spectators, some segments of the racecourse require a complete road closure. Some of these select street closures could be in place for a few hours. All roadway users are encouraged to follow all posted signs and directions from officers along the racecourse.

Course maps are available for review on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series website.

Community members should review them and prepare travel plans ahead of time to avoid delays. Please use extreme caution when traveling through the area as there will be a significant increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
