SLCPD Investigating Shooting, 1 Person DeadSALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened in the Sugar House neighborhood. This investigation started at 2:17 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, when SLC911 received reports of a shooting near 2256 South 1100 East. The shooter remained on scene and is cooperating with officers and detectives. There is no risk to our community. Salt Lake City Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance took the injured person to the hospital in critical condition. The man later died at the hospital. Officers have recovered the firearm used in this incident. Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad are responding. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 801-799-3000. There are localized road closures near 2256 South 1100 East that will likely last through the morning commute. A Salt Lake City Police PIO will be available for interviews at 8 a.m. at the Public Safety Building. No further information is available for release at this time. ###
