SLCPD Investigating a Shooting, One Person Hurt

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured a 20-year-old man.

The investigation started at 3:11 p.m., May 7, 2024, when SLC911 received a call about someone who had been shot in an apartment near 750 North 900 West.

Officers arrived and found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Officers provided life-saving aid on scene until Salt Lake City Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance arrived. Paramedics took the man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During their investigation, officers found a 16-year-old female on scene and arrested her. At the time of the arrest, officers also found a loaded firearm.

Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department Domestic Violence Squad are investigating. Preliminarily, officers believe this incident to be related to domestic violence.

As of this writing, no charges have been filed. Detectives have not concluded their investigation to determine whether the 16-year-old female will be booked into a juvenile detention center.
