April 13, 2012 — The Salt Lake City Police Department today relaunches its website, www.slcpd.com, with improved security and a better user experience.
The relaunch comes after hackers accessed the site in January, which Police Chief Chris Burbank addressed in a video posted online today as well.
“While this didn’t impact the way the Police Department does business — we continue to provide the same level of service that we always have [on the street] — but what it did impact is the way that we interact with the public,” he said. “Our webpage is really designed for the public … to share information, to find out more about the police department and enhance our relationship.”
Formerly independent, the Police Department’s new website is now part of the City’s online family, including added layers of security technology. With a new design scheme, www.slcpd.com gives the public the opportunity to:
