August 6, 2012 — The Salt Lake City Police and Fire Departments will support a variety of community events during Tuesday’s “Night Out Against Crime.”

Officers, including CIU, SWAT, K-9, Motors, Patrol, Explorers and Fusion Bikes, and Firefighters from a number of stations will attend parades, block parties and cookouts hosted by Community Councils. Look for them at the following locations as early as 5 p.m.:

  • District 1: Westpointe, 1100 N. 2000 W.
  • District 2: Glendale, 1313 W. California Ave.
  • District 5: East Liberty, 1185 S. Windsor and 1033 S. Lake St.

In addition to Tuesday’s Night Out Against Crime events, Poplar Grove Community Council is hosting an event this evening at Pioneer Precinct, while Jordan Meadows Community Council will celebrate Friday at 1975 W. 400 N.

National Night Out Against Crime is a community building campaign designed to heighten crime prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
