SLCPD Investigating Hit & Run Crash in Downtown

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is asking for help investigating a hit and run crash in downtown that left a woman with life-threatening injuries.

This investigation started at 4:49 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, when SLC911 received information about an auto-pedestrian crash at 600 West North Temple Street.

Officers arrived and found a woman lying in the road.

Paramedics took the woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Based on the preliminary information, officers believe a car traveling southbound on 600 West ran the red light and hit the woman in the crosswalk.

The car did not stop.

Detectives with the Collision Analysis Reconstruction (CAR) Team and Crime Lab technicians responded to help with the investigation.

The CAR Team is a multi-jurisdictional crash team that investigates crashes involving serious physical injuries or death. Members of the CAR Team receive specialized training in collision examination, speed analysis, vehicle dynamics, occupant kinematics, scene photography, surveying equipment, crash scene mapping, evidence collection and computer aided drawing programs.

The CAR Team includes law enforcement from the Salt Lake City Police Department and several other Salt Lake Valley law enforcement agencies.

Anyone with information about this crash should call 801-799-3000 and reference case 24-54182.
