Targeted behavior: aggressive driving around big rigs

SALT LAKE CITY — Supported by a $300,000 grant from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the Salt Lake City Police Department will launch a new public awareness campaign tomorrow to decrease crashes between motorists and commercial vehicles.

Chief Burbank will debut “Trucks Need Space” television ads and other materials targeting aggressive driving during a press conference at 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. Sgt. Tom Potter, lead accident investigator, will talk about the aftermath of accidents, while Christopher Smith will share his experiences from 20-plus years as a commercial truck driver.
